New Year's Eve with The Mister: SOLD OUT

Click on the picture above or right here to buy tickets for The Mister Saturday Night New Year's Eve Party. TICKETS ARE SOLD OUT.

This New Year's Eve, Mister Saturday Night is bringing you the best of both worlds.

We're keeping our unique loft party intimacy, with plenty of room to dance and high quality music with amazing sound – but we're expanding things a bit. In one room, residents Justin Carter and Eamon Harkin will be joined for a midnight set by Kyle Hall, a 19-year-old Detroit wunderkind, who's been trailblazing for a new generation of music makers over the past two years. In the other room is Martyn, a producer who challenges all preconceived notions about his status as one of the world's best known dubstep creators by playing sets that are far-flung enough to include Prince, J Dilla and Washed Out. Rounding out the room with Martyn is DJ Qu, a fantastic local jock and the man behind of one of our favorite labels, Strength Music; and opening the festivities for Eamon, Justin and Kyle are production duo Bad Decision.

The multi-roomed event space where the party's going down will be fantastically bedecked by Jessica Grindstaff, a set designer whose work has graced stages from Amsterdam to Australia to our hometown Brooklyn Academy of Music (with the Kronos Quartet, no less).

What else? How about an open champagne bar, not just for the ball drop, but all night? And an outdoor patio where you can get a breath of fresh air or smoke a cigarette? We have both of those.

The catch? In order to keep it intimate (and within the legal capacity of the venue), you have to buy an advance ticket to get in. We won't announce the address (rest assured, though, that it's a convenient location, close to train stops accessible in Manhattan and Brooklyn, and it's not way, way out there), and even if you figure out where it is, we won't be selling any tickets at the door, because it's gonna be sold out.

Other Nights of the Week: Docs and Rock

Packing up from Halloween and pitching the tents for another Mister Saturday this weekend, we'll still be taking some time to get into the city this week. In the unlikely-but-awesome-rendezvous category, tonight, Syrian wedding singer Omar Souleyman meets Williamsburg, and tomorrow, death-defying, Italian/Japanese Blonde Redhead rock trio meet German post-minimalist Pantha Du Prince.

Thursday we'll be checking the premier of a never-before-seen Bruce Springsteen concert film as part of the DOC NYC Fest, and Friday we'll admire Pablo Picasso (the band not the artist) at PS1. Saturday, before we head to the loft, we'll probably peep another doc – this one, featuring Iggy Pop – and on Sunday, we'll wipe the sleep from our eyes to check our Halloween party-decorator's puppet show, The Fortune Teller. Monday? We're staying at home.

A Special Halloween

It's Halloween! This year, instead of sitting it out, we decided we'd offer an antidote to the typically messy offerings, a Halloween party our way: great music, proper sound, fellow party-goers you'll actually want to talk to, and the most special of special places, 12-turn-13 – this time decked out by our friend Jessica Grindstaff. Jessica is a brilliant mind who's designed sets at BAM for Kronos Quartet and is currently working on a grand project about Arctic explorer Ernest Shackleton. She's the real deal.

To boot, if you're one of the first hundred people through the door, you'll get a limited edition Mister Saturday Night Halloween Mix CD with special packaging by Miss Grindstaff. And if you get there before 11p, beer's on the house.

You can still grab an advanced ticket over at Resident Advisor, and if you wear a proper costume – not just something you've thrown together (show some effort!) – you'll get in for $15. Otherwise all the details you need can be found just to the right of this post. We'll see you Saturday!

The Halloween Mix CD

For this weekend's Halloween party, we've made a Mister Saturday Night mix CD with special packaging by Jessica Grindstaff. Jessica's decorating 12-turn-13 especially for the evening, and the packaging will be themed in line with how she outfits the space. The first hundred or so people through the door will get a copy... and then they're gone. Tracklisting after the jump.
