A Word with Tevo Howard

Another interview here for you, this time from a guest from just over a week back, Tevo Howard. We tried to squeeze this one in before the party, but alas Tevo is a busy man these days, and his schedule couldn't allow for it. But here he is talking about Chicago, literature, Traxx, Resident Advisor and more.

Mister Saturday Night: Your recent RA podcast was a beautiful piece of work. Congratulations! Getting an RA podcast these days seems to a real milestone in an artist's career. Have you noticed an effect yet, or is it too soon to say?

Tevo Howard: Thank you for the kind words. I did take good time doing the RA Podcast, and it was great to work with them. I have seen some trickle from the podcast, and am excited looking forward.

Back Outdoors

After a wonderful return to the loft last weekend, the Mister heads back outdoors this Saturday to our favorite Bushwick Courtyard at Brooklyn Fire Proof.

On this occasion we've got a rising star playing a special live set with real analogue gear. Tevo Howard is one of a very few Chicago artists (here's another) pushing forward with a house sound that is true to the roots of the original sounds which emanated from the Windy City back in the mid-80s. His recent Resident Advisor podcast which you can download here is a beautiful piece of work and highly recommended listening ahead of this week's jam.

Eamon will be handling resident duties for the night either side of Tevo's live set whilst Mister Carter enjoys his honeymoon in exotic climes! Great beer and tacos are, of course, on the menu once again, and the weather's shaping up quite nicely, though should we get a shower there's a new retractable awning for the entire dance floor. Mister Saturday Night's got you covered.

See you this weekend.

Summer Nights

Summer nights in New York are a wonderful thing, and we've got some special treats in store for another hot season. On June 12th we head for the great outdoors with a special sunset and early evening get-down under the big, Brooklyn sky. We’ll be setting up shop in an alley next to a quaint Bushwick bar, serving up cold beverages and chowing down with the good folks from Taccolada and special guest Rick Wade will be with us for the night.

On June 26th we're making a rare sojourn into Manhattan to a secret spot which we think will work just perfectly for Eamon and Justin getting down with special guest Ivan Smagghe. [post-dated note: This venue, like a lot of other venues this year, ended up being shuttered, and the party went down at Brooklyn Fire Proof.]

Joining Eamon and Justin on July 3rd is our good friend DJ Harvey, returning after a triumphant appearance at the party back in January, as he comes from his west coast base en route to Europe for a MUCH anticipated return to his homeland.

On July 10th we're back at one of our favorite spots, 12-Turn-13, with Junior Boys coming in for a special DJ set alongside Eamon. The 17th sees a live performance from a man we've had our eye on for some time now. Tevo Howard makes beautifully raw, emotive and original house music, and the Chicago man will be debuting his hardware live show in New York before another Chicagoan–Chez Damier–joins the boys on July 24th for a night of deep, deep stuff.

We're taking a little break thereafter but we're back with on August 28th when we welcome the return of one of our heroes: Theo Parrish will man the decks with the residents for the second of two dates at 12-Turn-13.

Save those dates...
