Justin Carter

Justin Carter was raised on Nickelodeon and Nintendo. This developed (or undeveloped as it were) his attention span, which affords him the ability to float through numerous interests in his life. He is a writer, a DJ, a foodie, a musician, a lover of visual art, a producer of events, and one of two brains behind Mister Saturday Night with Eamon Harkin.

A pioneer of the Bushwick loft party scene, Justin threw his first shindigs in the early aughts at Asterisk, a DIY venue that led the way for many other living-spaces-turned-party-places. It was there that he learned his ground-up approach to making a party right -- nice people, good music, a down-to-earth space and personal touches (like when he rained down balloons on the crowd from trash bags, in what was probably the most sincere balloon drop ever).

While he was forging ahead in Brooklyn, he became a member of the Nublu family, launching the much-loved Lower East Side musical institution’s record label and regularly DJing at the little Avenue C spot. A few years later he held the Music Director position at Manhattan’s once-hallowed music venue APT.

As a DJ he’s held his own beside Moodymann, Nicky Siano, Larry Heard and Afrika Bambaataa; and as a singer, he's unleashed his talents via Great Weekend's It's Now EP.

More important than any co-billings or items marked off on the to-do list of life, though, Justin loves music in all its various forms. He mostly just wants to have a good time.
